Forest bathing, Shinrin Yoku as the Japanese call it, is known in many cultures as a way to achieve deeper levels of healing. Being with nature in the forest disconnects us from the world around us and reconnects us to what matters most: Ourselves! By reconnecting with ourselves, we shift our brain wave states to those of healing states, we lessen the ‘fight or flight’ of the parasympathetic nervous system and activate the ‘rest and respond’ of the sympathetic nervous system.
